Postcard Delivered 47 Years Later

Postcard Took 47 years to Reach Destination

I worked for the USPS myself, so I can say from experience that letters sometimes get lost, but what about the ones which are lost 47 years and then reappear again at their destination? This is exactly what happened to a postcard sent from Helena, Montana to Hudson, Ohio. The original sender had sent it in 1962 to a person who rented a p.o. box. The person who the postcard was originally intended for passed away in 1988, and the new renter of the p.o. box found it recently when they checked their daily mail. The sender of the postcard died as well, in 1998. A USPS spokesperson said that the postcard was probably lost behind a mail chute, then found and placed back into a stream of mail to be delivered, either that or it was stuck in a machine for 47 years.
